fanlit’s done. I can barely believe that scarcely over a month ago, I submitted my first entry. Over the course of that month, my life has changed drastically.

Well, drastically. Erm. Let’s see. I’m still in the same job, and I’m still planning on doing the same job after I finish this one. I haven’t decided not to do anything as a result of FanLit. It’s just that I’ve decided to do … well, something in addition. And if I’m going to do something additional, I need to start somewhere.

Some might say I should start with “The Goddess of Small Things,” and I have to admit, it’s tempting. But it just doesn’t seem like the right time in my life for that one. And so instead, I have another story I’m thinking about. It’s not quite there yet, and that’s mostly because I don’t quite grok my characters yet. It’s been my experience with FanLit that I can’t plot to save my life. What I can do is figure out who the characters are, and where I want to get them, and then shade in all the little details.

Er. I suppose that’s plotting.

And I suppose this entry is why I called this blog “Ramblings.”
