Looks like it’s working!
On my own blog, several things used to poof comments: a) the rich text editor, b) LibraryThing, and c) the comments blacklist option.
I fixed it by a) using the editor only for my posts and not for comments, b) removing LibraryThing, and c) deselecting the option to blacklist comments from open and insecure proxies. The last option, when enabled, was occasionally poofing AOL users’ comments.

I can leave a comment — comment, comment, comment
