We have two rats (we’d only have one if I’d been consulted before the second was purchased, but I don’t clean the cages, so I don’t complain) and three cats, but there’s no way the cats and the rats could curl up together. Our cats (link to blog post darling picture of said creatures when they were adorable kittens) are killers. They catch and kill anything rodent-like that crosses their paths, along with the occasional lizard.
The day before Easter, they caught, killed, and consumed a baby rabbit. Far from being horrified that the Easter Bunny had just met a tragic fate, my kids watched with delight as the bunny disappeared, butt first (although there were a few shudders when the cats actually consumed the eyes).

ROFLMAO! And here we spent many hours trying to keep the cat from eating the pet mouse, hamsters, gerbils…. I’d trade of Grendel was still alive.
