Winners & Statistics

irst, the winners! The winner of the random drawing is . . . Elyssa! As for the job I’d most like to have, let’s see. You all gave me some really great options, and it’s hard to choose just one. But I have to say that Estelle’s last choice sounds pretty awesome:
[S]omebody suggested the need for a job called Mongol Librarian. You’d ride around to all the different libraries, shoot arrows at annoying patrons, and sleep in tents outside.
Plus, think how great it would be at dinner parties:”So, what do you do?”
“I write books. Plus, I’m a Mongol Librarian.”
“What’s a Mongol Librarian?”
“I slay those who annoy me.”
“Uh, and does this pay well?”
“Sure. Especially if the people who annoy me are rich.”
Elyssa and Estelle, contact me with your snail-mail address and tell me the name of a book you want!
In any event, some statistics from the last two days:
Total Miles Traveled: 2012
Total Time: 47 hours (29 on the road)
Gallons of Gas used: 58 (I love my car! Plus it was packed full.)
Speeding tickets: 2
Speeding tickets I deserved: 1
Speed I was going when I got said ticket: 101.
Number of hours it took to pack car to brim: 7
Number of hours it took to unpack car with Mr. Milan’s help: 0.5
How much I love Mr. Milan: infinity.
Pages written in last week: 0. But I excuse myself.

I also traveled over the holiday weekend — not 2000 miles, though! — and I saw dozens of police cars along the way. I had to use cruise control to keep myself from driving my usual 80+ mph. I haven’t pushed my Accord Hybrid to 101. 90-something, yes, but there’s something about 3 digits that scares me, I guess.
Your next contest should be “Guess Courtney’s Car.” To get almost 35 mpg in a fully loaded car while driving an average of 70 miles an hour, you might be in an Accord Hybrid or a BMW 3-series.
Congratulations on arriving safely at your new home!

Ha! My car is from 1993. And it is definitely not a BMW.

Congrats on the massive move!
Here’s hoping the climate is welcoming and the Milan’s comfortable.

Wow that was a fast un-pack. What did you do, open the back up and tip the car?
Glad you made it safe and sound.

Wow! Your car must be quite a tough little vehicle!

Thank goodness I didn’t know you were driving that fast! Glad you are safe and sound with Mr. Milan. I’d tell you to get some rest, but I know that wouldn’t be any fun at all.

Glad you arrived safely and with your car intact!! Ours (a 1993 Saturn SL2) would have rattled apart at 101 mph!

I must be missing something. Where did you move from and to? Sounds like a cross country trek. Man, I don’t think my car has ever seen 100 but it definitely has seen the 90s

Congrats on the successful move. I don’t drive, so I can’t even imagine anything as daredevil as wanting to propel a hurtling mass of metal to such a speed. I’m sorry I missed your contest. I was in the midst of my own move back to America from China. I’ll catch the next one.

I’m definitly guessing that you have some kind of a Honda. They rock. I’m on my 3rd Honda right now. My last was a 1991. This one is a 2007. Kind of different
I’m glad you got through your move OK. I drove an Accord across country (with many, many stops, took me a month) with a huge travel thing on top and every space loaded down. I was nearly dragging on the road but that didn’t stop me from taking the poor car camping on dirt roads and through the hot desert. Ah, the memories. That was one good car!

I won! Woo-hoo!
Congrats on the move, CM! Are you excited?

I agree, Ericka! Hope everything’s OK, Courtney!
