Obligatory Post
Posted by CM under Ornithology, Writing on Sat 9 Feb 2008
ou’ll notice that in my “goals” post for the year I did not mention “update blog regularly” as a goal. That is because there was no way to make it a goal (I originally typed “gaol”–how appropriate!) without interfering with two other goals–writing, and getting through my day job with a modicum of grace.
So here I am with the erratic posting. And today I’m just going to mention that Ornithology–which has been given the temporary title of “The Making of Jenny Keeble”–finaled in NTRWA’s Great Expectations contest.
Aside from, uh, the Golden Heart, this is the first contest I’ve entered these pages in. Notice I do not say, the first contest in which I’ve entered Ornithology–I entered the much older version in one (or is it two? Honestly, I don’t remember because I’ve blocked out the results) contest before. The judges were really unimpressed. So it’s nice to know that the completely rewritten pages have made a difference. Whew. I did not just waste those many hundreds of hours on the rewrite. At some point in the future, I may actually end up posting a blurb and an excerpt. But–that will have to wait until I’m not completely overwhelmed.
Here’s hoping that everyone else has been having a wonderful and productive 2008 so far! I suck at posting, but I’m not really going to get better anytime in the next few months. Maybe later….

Congrats on the final, Courtney! That is most excellent. :: cue best Sean Penn impression::
I have been a bad blogger and a bad blog-rounder of late, myself. Something about that pesky day-job and writing and life in general, lol.
Anyway, it’s always a pleasure when I drop by and find you’ve posted, so you know, don’t be a stranger too long!

Congratulations! The Making of Jenny is wonderful. And yes, you have worked hard - this is well deserved!

Obligatory Congrats!
Kidding aside, I owe you congrats for every loop and blog I’ve read this on - and I mean it every time! I knew we had great expectations of you for a reason.
Can’t wait for the blurb & excerpt.

Congratulations!! That’s so exciting. You’re racking up the finals and, I’m sure, the wins. Can’t wait to meet you in SF!
Oh, and I’m an infrequent blogger as well. We should form a support group. Hello, my name is lenora, and I only posted twice in January.

Congratulations, Courtney! I entered that contest twice and had a lovely experience both times. The way they do discrepancy judging is very helpful in weeding out crazy scores. I was certainly grateful for it back in 2006.
I’m so busy on all possible fronts right now that I’ve fallen way behind on updating my blog. Things should be settled down in a couple of weeks after I make a few deadlines, though.
And I agree — that’s a really intriguing title!

Congratulations CM! I love the title! I’ve been so busy I haven’t blog hopped lately…glad to see I’ve not missed much on your blog (LOL).
Good luck with juggling and having it all!

Congrats!! And I totally hear you about sporadic blogging being a necessity when one is focusing on writing & work. I actually held you and Tessa up as examples of why I could let go of the guilt in this area … your sporadic blog posts are no less popular for their random appearances
