Giveaway: Lead Me On by Victoria Dahl

So, it’s December 29th, and a Tuesday, and that means that new books are on the shelf. Those of you who are familiar with this drill know how it goes: Almost every day is “Buy a Book Written by Courtney” day, which has been very inconvenient, as Courtney has (up until this point) only had novellas (rather than actual books) available for purchase.

Naturally, since today is Tuesday, and since the semi-official release date of my actual book is in a few days, my book is probably going to be on the shelves just about everywhere. So am I going to tell you to buy my book?

No! That would be weird. I’m going to tell you to buy Lead Me On by Victoria Dahl. It’s no surprise that I’m a huge Victoria Dahl fangirl; I think there’s something about her heroines that really just speaks to me. They’re never the sort of person to give up and let someone else solve their problems; they always dig deep and figure out how things move forward on their own. They don’t need heroes.

But they do deserve them. And I think, more than any of Victoria’s other books, Jane Morgan deserves her hero. I absolutely ached for her to have her happily ever after, and this book stretched her, forced her to really look into herself and decide that she was worthy of happiness. I just adored this book–so much so that I pushed a copy of it off on my sister who is visiting for the holidays. I don’t want to give away too much, but today is definitely a holiday: Go buy a book written by Victoria Dahl, and don’t wait to read it. Because Lead Me On is really, really fantastic.

(If you are reading this after December 29th, the link won’t work–in that it will no longer be a holiday in which you are supposed to buy a book written by Victoria Dahl. You can find out what I think about the book by clicking here instead.)

In any event, leave a comment and some lucky person will win a copy of this awesome book.

  2. Sounds great! Thanks for the recommendation, Courtney. I’m really enjoying my semi-officially-released copy of Proof By Seduction! About 2/3 of the way through, and the elephants just keep piling up…

ETA: I just read your outtake from Proof — another elephant! Lovely scene. Thanks for posting.

I’ve read all Victoria Dahl’s contemporaries, including Lead Me On – finished it on Sunday, so don’t enter me in the contest. I will say being a person who is an “A” type, I’d suggest reading them in this order:
Talk Me Down (my fav. of the bunch), Start Me Up (a good read), and then Lead Me On. This way you’ll be introduced to the characters as they appear. And Chase is AWESOME. Jane was a bit annoying and frustrating. And a warning, there is potential for crying due to Jane’s growth. At least 3 people who have read it, have done so, including me.

I just picked up Victoria’s historical at the bookstore yesterday. It’s on my nightstand upstairs which is why I don’t remember the name. So having blown my Christmas giftcards all to heck and back, I’d love a free copy of Ms. Dahl’s newest contemporary. I love her writing and her Tweets make me laugh like a braying donkey.

Victoria Dahl has been in the back of my mind for a few months now. I really wanted to read Talk Me Down but I got sidetracked. Then I saw Start Me Up and was like I have to read the first one, which i never got around to because again, sidetracked by pretty historical. NOW everyone seems to be talking about how great Lead Me On is (and how hunky Chase is) so I must not get sidetracked.

I love Victoria Dahl, she’s very funny and a great writer. Although I usually read historicals, for Victoria, I’ll go for the contemporary – just to be able to enjoy her writing.

Hi, Courtney. How are things? I’ve never read any of Victoria Dahl’s work. In fact, having only recently discovered the romance genre (oh, what I’ve been missing all these years!), I am finding new writers as I go along (wonderful, wildly talented writers, whose books range from sweetly romantic to more… sizzling). I started with historical romance (British), then discovered American historical romance (including Pamela Morsi, LaVyrle Spencer, Patricia Gaffney – all of whom have become favourites). I’ve not read many contemporaries and after checking out Ms Dahl’s website, am interested in reading her. Am also looking forward to your book release. Best of luck and cheers from Ottawa!

Victoria Dahl is a wonderfully wonderful author, and I can’t wait to read her latest. I pimped out my copy of Talk Me Down to a friend, promising her that if she got through it she’d get to read the best line ever written in the sequel (“I was a fucking sex ninja!” appears in Start Me Up and seriously, that just cannot be improved upon.) but she didn’t like it. :( Ah well, it’s easier for me to re-read my copies when they aren’t waiting for someone else to read them. I’d love to win a copy of Jane’s book!
